The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a non-profit, grassroots membership organization. We have headquarters in Washington, D.C., and CAIR chapters across America. CAIR was established to promote a positive image of Islam and Muslims in America. We believe misrepresentations of Islam are most often the result of ignorance on the part of non-Muslims and reluctance on the part of Muslims to articulate their case.

Being the very first national Islamic political organisation in the UK and the only Islamic political party in the non-Muslim Western world, it has helped Muslims to gain confidence in the political discussion, it has researched Islamic answers to contemporary issues and come up with convincing policies on economy, environment, health, education, social affairs, international relations, and many other aspects of modern life.

The first Muslim Student Association was founded on the campus of the University of Illinois, Ann, Urbana-Champaign in 1963. From the minds of a few students came an association that has spread to myriad universities across North America. The MSA of UT has been blessed with a colorful fifteen year history. The basic purpose of the association is to increase awareness of the Islamic faith among the student population. For this reason, the association is open to Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Islam has long been a misunderstood religion in the west. We aim to set the record straight and clear up the many misconceptions.
